Timothee Chalamet Faces Criticism

Timothee Chalamet has consistently been one of Hollywood’s most beloved young actors. From his stellar performances in Oscar-nominated films such as A Complete Unknown to his whimsical portrayal of Willy Wonka in Wonka, his range has been applauded for years. His raw, humorous interview clips and press tours have made viewers fall in love with him, yet recently, for what feels like the first time in his career, he’s facing backlash over a seemingly out-of-touch remark in an interview with Vogue

29-year-old Chalamet was asked about fatherhood and children. He said, “That could be on the radar,” and then went on to give his opinions on people who don’t have children. He said he spoke with one woman who was “bragging about not having kids,” and said that was “bleak.” According to Vogue, he went on to say that he believes “procreation is the reason we’re here.”

Chalamet is facing much criticism, particularly from his female fanbase, over this statement. Fans are outraged that he commented on this topic as a man, arguing that it should be a woman’s decision. People are also pointing out that there are many women who can’t have children, so his comment was insensitive to those who wish they could have children but are unable to.
